December weather in UK was S****!Actually about average for south korea,sweden or canada but the british were"nt really prepared as is"nt often they have really consistent heavy snow.All figures for December will be pretty skewed by this and will come in below normal but are lightly to bounce back for the beginning of this year.........unless there are further heavy snow falls closing down roads airports and keeping people out of the shops.Those in UK unfortunately already know this (LOL),but those internationally may not realise the actual cause of some of the negative statistics coming out of uk for year end.

As always a clear and incisive analysis,a theme seems to be building that some of the traditional "majors"are all being in such equally ill health that the smart money is now moving for value to the smaller sovereign,commodity,or preferably both currencies.More precisely from those with massive debt obligations to those with a surplus or balanced books,personally this trend makes me quite nervous and makes me realise how much has changed since this new century began.

So the British papers are saying the royal wedding of william and kate could be a 600million boost to the ecconomy,in that case all I can say is "Hurry up Harry!",forget being an Apache pilot your ecconomy needs you!

China has very large gold holdings and is fact worlds largest producer (check it),it could be about to starty selling some of this to actualise profit and push up the value of the dollar which it would like to see both for trade and because of its own dollar holdings.Careful with the run away euro the union actions are starting to have effect in france and generally in europe the left can smell blood from weak government including the Uk coalition,this winter could be uncomfortably interesting as they start to test their power against cuts ,retirement etc.

Hi,been in spain for last 10 days,was quite surprised to find it still there and much as it was a year ago,there is still a recession,money is tighter than a few years back but not the disaster I had expected to find.I have been in and out of spain since the 70s and seen it much,much,worse,it will never be germany,it is a peripheral part of the euro ecconmomy and probably will remain as such.However people are used to hard times here and are coping pretty well,much better I would expect than in certain areas of the US?
