Reults of ECB 3month auction, will be at 11.15 frankfurt,10.15 london time, estimates between 200-300 will be taken up by banks, around or definitely above 300 is negative for euro, there will no doubt be a bit of risk aversion before hand, results are major barometer of strength or desperation of euro banks particularly in the club med countries.Political problems in germany also becoming a concern,if merkels candidate fails in bid for federal presidency, vote today in reistag(parliament),she could face problems.

GBP/USD been fairly resilient compared to whats happened to euro today and state of the equity indexes, still watching it but to me that seems fairly positive going forward, europe, states, and uk all have problems but seems uk may be better positioned now to weather the storm than the other two, although not exactly the swiss franc or yen!July first is the day US state governments have to publish their annual budgets, that has a few people worried about dollar considering the debts of the likes of california!

OK,rebalancing of Russell 2000 index at close of wall street caused that final spike and explains why there was no friday afternoon, pre G meetings, pullback of any sort! Had to do a bit of money management at end of trade but ended up holding short GBP with a long stop over the weekend, have to sweat till monday pacific and hope the japanese will see it as oversold as is euro or keep my fingers crossed for juicy stories in the sunday press of a straining coalition.

Euro and pound ridiculously overbought but still not backing off on a friday afternoon with G8 and G20 at the weekend! Ok oil is up but seems to be a lot of irrational exuberance taking over the new york session or it just me???

Euro has been extraordinarily resilent in the face of wall street sell offs of late, mostly because selloffs were generated by bad US data.Markets seem to be changing their riskon/riskoff view as for Euro/Usd with problems in the states coming into focus as to federal deficit and the fact that debt in several US states make greece look positively healthy.

Seems some funds liquidated their long term euro shorts before their summer break.Might have to wait for japanese exporters to do some euro selling and tidy this gap up asian morning.
