Cancellation of the construction of "The Pinnacle" high rise office block in london because of failure to secure clientele, the closure of the comet stores, several thousand laid off at UBS London office, salary cuts across the city,lay-offs at GM plants, the fundamentals of UK ecconomy looking very weak to me and only buoyed up by sky high real estate market being put beyond most peoples reach by foreign buyers who will run at the scent of a possible labour victory as election year gets closer. Think the pound got some legs on the back of weak yen and US fiscal cliff anxiety but am looking for it to show signs of overextension soon and start going short for long term play.GB"old grey" your right GBP/CHF is a very good indicator of real sterling strength and look where that is going ??

Beyond the long term big picture of debasement of the major fiat currencies by money printing gold is generally a very seasonal beast and now is actually the low season. The wedding season in south asia starting end october to the spring when coupled with the chinese new year is usually the time of highest demand and price. Now we have gold at $1,760 before its peak season even begins ,think it could touch $2000 around xmas and could pop above that if a perfect storm of middle eastern problems arise.Longer term as long as the printing presses are rolling all over the world gold is supported so we are not at the end of the cycle yet even though gold is looking expensive.

Seeing sterling as moving towards overbought against USd with political headwinds in next weeks local elections, think its the liberals that are really going to get a kicking and of course the conservatives on the return to technical recession. The spectre may soon start to loom of the next government being a triple or possibly multiple coalition with no party having a workable majority???Looking to short any rally to 1.6300 this week and if it fails there I will double up looking for break below 1.6150 and beyond ???

So the British papers are saying the royal wedding of william and kate could be a 600million boost to the ecconomy,in that case all I can say is "Hurry up Harry!",forget being an Apache pilot your ecconomy needs you!

This is looking very much like a euro short term top and reverse down, however be careful of attempts by swiss and others intervening to slow the fall, remembering their intervention in may just after london closing that knocked out my 180 point stop in a minute!

China has very large gold holdings and is fact worlds largest producer (check it),it could be about to starty selling some of this to actualise profit and push up the value of the dollar which it would like to see both for trade and because of its own dollar holdings.Careful with the run away euro the union actions are starting to have effect in france and generally in europe the left can smell blood from weak government including the Uk coalition, this winter could be uncomfortably interesting as they start to test their power against cuts ,retirement etc.
