ashraf, how do you expect dollar to move after the emergency meeting on monday if they hike the discount rate by 25bp? Because there was little overall benefit to the dollar on friday even though it was bank holiday.

we should have a nice strong run in the dollar over the next few days. very important for cable to finish below 1.52 today for a huge sell of next week.

with uk elections nearing this means uncertainty. unless data till then is relatively inspiring not just skimming past estimates against other currency, sterlings extremely unlikely to run higher.

cable is a great shorting opportunity at current levels. The feds emergency meeting is rumoured to be about discount rate hike. Market will remain thin today and monday but i expect 1.51s close today.

rim yes for this year but i see euro in a multi year decline strength thats why i see broad dollar strength in to 2011 for Dollar index. My main reason is that the euro has broken down as a system and will not make a reservce currency any time soon. This is far worse than monetary expansion as you can withdraw liquidity and normalise circulation of cash.

the longer term outlook of the euro is now very weak as it has failed as a system. i am looking for dollar parity in 2011 despite any improvements in euroland.

dxy 90 very possible this year but will require improving economic numbers and some tightening ahead of others. Although with regards to tightening the central banks are likley to use co-ordinated moves.
