RBA hikes by 25bps as expected and the market sells off - a bit. Opportunity to buy ? Any views ?

SORRY TYPO IN IMT: Last sentence was supposed to say in the "Unlikely decision to NOT raise rates" instead of "to raise rates"

Mikestiller. Yes, yen weakness is mainly against USD but hesitant against non-USD while falling bond yields resulting from hesistant risk aversion. This highlights the continued buliishness in USDJPY.

Ashraf,

Can you provide some insight into the decoupling of UST's and the Yen. It seems like the once correlated assets have decided to march to the beat of their own drum. Is the yen starting to price in potential currency/sovereign issues, bonds acting as flight to safety from US equities and Greece, or is there a larger issue here?

Thanks

I think we may not see any pronounced usd weakness as market is confused about RBA decision. There are likely chances that we may not see a rate hike this time. But we may reach some important resistances to give us a short opportunity if RBA raises rate. China tightening can give an excuse to RBA not to raise rates.

do u find tonights RBA rate decision as market driving event...???
isnt it allready priced???

any thoughts...?

because , when i look at the calendar, i would see some usd weakness at least for the next 24hours...not only against AUD, but also against jpy, eur, nzd and gbp...

Hi Ashraf

USDCAD met and exceed your targets, very nice calls! now it sits at 10175 at a trendline resistance.

Longer term are u getting a inclination that we may run up now?

Or do you still hold ur view that we wil be caped by 10240/50.

Would be helpful if you can give us your long term out for USDCAD.

Thanks again
