madie, what i meant was that nothing will reverse yen weakness. i.e. yen weakness will continue in general.

as long as bond yields remain strong and china does not raise rates.

There's also a FOMC today. Remember there was only one dissenter (Mr. Hoenig) last time. Mr. Bullard who's been against the 'low rates for extended period' clause could be another dissenter candidate ;)
More hawkish FOMC will prop up USD once more, possibly sending USDJPY higher.

What am I missing? I mean, the JPY shows some strength or a weakness pause at least. But why? Recent US data points to a higher risk appetite and yet, USDJPY retreats...

Ashraf is different from others as he forecasts what will happen and not what is happening. So there is all the likelihood that we may see more yen weakness. however markets are sometimes unpredictable but the safer bet is going long usdjpy on any yen strength and it is quite possible that we may see 97 before any multi day pull back as we are just 200-250 pips away from 97.Ofcourse i would love if it falls right away.

Ashraf

Sorry, I dont understand your last entry

Do you mean further weakness or strengthness of yen ? if you see 94,70 in cad/Jpy this means upcoming yen weakness

In my mind at least GBP/yen and eur/yen could be dragged down by weak and weakenng GBP
tightening of liquidity due to to possible discount rate-hike could easily drag down SP 500 (strong overbought) in favour of a stronger yen.

strong resistance areas on 1h charts around 127,60 eur/yen and 143,80 GBP/yen are not yet broken

nothing in fundamentals here indicates upcoming yen weakness. big levels were broken on weekly cadjpy. we can see 94.70.

Lolz yields, first year in trading so much to learn. seasonal high yields means higher usdjpy. 94.20 is the go ahead signal. nothing in way till 97 as ashraf said. But who knows. i have a short audjpy position 84.50 85 , 85.80 planning to hedge it directly to save my margin. holding it is no problem except that we dont know what may happen in this market safer bet is to take profits even if its going against you and you dont get rollover fees plus its better to hold long audjpy as a carrytrade. anyways still need to see 87.50 blown away. Any brilliant ideas will help.

Hi Ashraf/ Bon voyage!

Do you see CADJPY going back down bellow 82.00 anytime soon? and if so under what conditions fundamentally?

Many Thanks
