even though we have a rally gbpusd isnt at 167 highs seen earlier this past month or so only 165 ? is this a breakdown in confidence in pound / uk economic jitters ?

exactly why i am 'BEARISH' , we haven't retraced nearly enough, yet.
My reasoning is that there is no more equity led consumer credit, the whole model is broken, Japan tried exporting its way out of recession, it didn't work. So, raise interest rates America take the defaltion and unemployment hit.
However, good news for traders!, range bound for years, with tighter regulation, (hopefully weeding out the cowboy speculators and institutions) leaves trading the ranges a joy for years to come! ;)
GBPUSD dancing with 165 , could we see this get back up to test 167 this week ? 16026 & 16275 are starting to look like good support levels now.

this week we tested a lower low and is struggling to hold 930, now breached to 934, but we could rally to 1000, in the back of my mind is the fact that intel did ok, theres been a LOT of redundancies a new phenomenon workers accepting pay 'cuts', and unprofitable car manufacturers being beheaded by government, Lehmans could turn out to be the best thing to happen, ive read that M&A have been their busiest for a year, just a thought, but no one seems to wanting to short just yet

gold now @914.90 do you think gold really has the legs left in it to get higher ? im inclined to agree with raulin, isn't gold being used as a hedge against inflation, if the results are lack lustre that would send a message we are in for a very shallow recovery?
i think we have seen as much market shock financially, if we end up bouncing along +-1% growth might aswell be in stocks with a dividend right? just my thoughts, it hinges on results this week but Poland and Japan have been a little more upbeat about their economies today.

speculator, 'irrational speculators' have nothing to do with deflationary pressures.

i read that DEFLATION may well threaten USA for the rest of the year, is this what you've been seeing in the CADJPY correction? Gold also retreating , so AUDJPY AUDUSD CADJPY shorts now?
Do you follow grains and natural gas ?

i notice on S&P a mini trend line from 1st-7th intersecting @ 887 today it jumped tested the MA100 then straight back down onto the trend line again. It smells like risk aversion day tomorrow for the weekend.

Ashraf, hindsight is a wonderful thing , that CADJPY trade you identified a few weeks back really did pay off, if not called a bit early.
GBPUSD rally now over, but will this establish a new trading range 162-158 ? the 162 was a good support now it looks like turning into resistance.
Q. oil 'falling' with USD 'strength' is this the alarm bell that all is not right in the world ?
its still suprising how tentative equities are around 877 that the pullback might not be that bad though, Bernanke & BoE have backed off on their intervention,
Q. do you think 'they are saving up their ammo' ? ready for a squirt later in the year if needed?
IF this is true and 877 is the magic number if we draw a new trend line in from march lows to 877 'now' that is a long slow trudge to June tops. opinions as always appreciated (yes including you speculator)
