In Thread: EUR
Thanks Catnip.
Norwegian centralbank have been selling NOK (400 million every month since MAY, 4 months). I think they will stop the selling in September. So, hope for EUR/NOK down to 7.00 where it should be if you think about the fundamentals. Actually, it should have been even lower than that.....
We have a higher interest rate and our country have a positive trade balance every year.
We are not part of EU, so foreigners should invest here if they had some common sense........

Ashraf, why don't you ever recommend to go long NOK against JPY & CHF? Even at very overbought levels of these "Safe Heaven" currencies, you still don't recommend it....
I don't get it....

In Thread: WorldCup2010
Swiss lost their chance from to the group-finale. However the CHF is going bananas last weeks. NOK is slammed down, like a banana-republic currency (as it actually is).
Ashraf? Any advice about when to sell JPY, CHF or USD against NOK?

Anyway, happy that England went on their ass out of the WC. They are always overrated anyway. And good Germany got revenge from 1966.
I see some hope in Spain or Germany (both play fantastic football), but it is the south Americans that have played the better football than all.
Brazil, my favourite team, may they win their 6.th world cup!!!!

but...how about the NOK ashraf?

PS. Hope you had a fantastic time in South Africa.
But now it is serious business and we need you back here!

Best Regards

In Thread: JPY
Maybe things are happening faster than Ashraf expected?
I wanted to short JPY against the NOK.
But now I am scared markets is in a downtrend, JPY go up and we are starting to get deflation.
I am very insecure about the oil-price now.... and it is not so nice, cause I work in the oil-industry.
All looking very insecure.
We had 8 months of very busy times, all had to work over-time. But now, we have almost nothing to do for next month.....
Things do not look to good...
Oil to retest 60 dollar or lower?

In Thread: JPY
I sold 32 million YEN at 14,87 (against the NOK(0.06725)) and I am looking to put in another short. Where? Any rebound soon? I am gonna short this pair to 16,70 (0.0599))
Also, about the GPB... I wonder how low it is gonna go. It has never been so low against the NOK as it is now. Is it a good idea to use it for hedging my JPY/NOK position?

Hi
Stock market correction is over.
NOK doesn't seem to take on more losses.... Not against YEN or CHF.
Heading driectly for CHF/NOK to 5.45 and NOK/JPY to 16,7.
Hope I can get in on 15.24 (should have gone in when it was 14,7!!!)

Said, comments please...

Said, thanks.
Swiss Bank don't want a stronge CHF compared to the EUR, at the same time EUR are weakening, so I expect the CHF to weaken to. NOK will get stronger in the future, we have a good economy here. Question is, if the correction is over for now. I would like to go long NOK against the JPY, cause NOK/CHF is abit boring lately.
Said, where do you see JPY in the future? (Against NOK)

Ashraf, thanks for your reply.

But I would like to point out that NOK/JPY closed at 14,75 (05.Feb), the same minute CHF/NOK closed at 5.6007 (and CHF/JPY dip to 82,577).
If you don't expect CHF/JPY to go below 82, but at the same time NOK/JPY to follow more losses to 14, this would then be equivalent to a CHF/NOK at 5,857. Right?
Well, I really doubt that CHF would even come close to this (against the NOK), being in a downtrend and fighting against EUR that is just heading lower. CHF keep on intervening regularly to prevent the EUR/CHF cross heading too low.
So if the NOK/JPY will go to 14 and CHF/NOK at a very doubtfully maximum 5,7, We will have to see CHF/JPY below 80.....and even close to 79...
I am just asking if it is smart to go long NOK against YEN on this levels (~15.0) or wait for more loss to 14. I expect to see 16.625 in the within May and further 18.18 in 6-7 months or so.

Still trying to learn from you.

Best Regards

A story about Norwegian brokers....

A farmer was watching his sheeps when they walk around on his field. Suddenly a new BMW 5-series show up on the road beside.

A guy in Armani-dress and Gucci shoes, with Ray Ban sunglasses and a YSL-tie sticks his head out of the car-window og shouts to the farmer: "If I can tell you exactly how many sheeps you have on your field, can I then get one of them for free?"

The farmer look at the guy - thinking "What a cheeky little guy" and he look at his sheeps that is spread around on the field, and answer:" No problem, you have a deal!".

The guy parks his BMW, opens up a Dell notebook, connects the newest Nokia mobile phone to it and surfs to a NASA website, calls up the latest GPS-satellite-navigationsystem, gets the exact position of the terrain. He feeds this information into another NASA-satellite wich scans the field with a camera with ultra-high-resolution.

Then he opens the digital picture in Adobe Photoshop and export it to another website: Image processing Facility in Hamburg. Within seconds he get an email in return on his Palm Pilot - It says: "Picture Processed and stored".

Then he logs into a MS-SQL database through ODBC and connect up an excel spreadsheet with hundreds of advanced formulas. He loads all the data down through the email-post to an Xircom and within a second he gets respons.

At the end he print out a 4-coloured, 150 page report on his hitech-miniature HP Colour LaserJet and take a last glance at the last page:
He then say, "you got exactly 1586 animals"

The farmer:"That is correct, so you can have one of my sheeps now"

The farmer look at the guy while he is trying to get one of his animals into the back of the BMW. Then he says:"If I could guess what your profeccion is, would you give me the animal back?"

The young guy, thinking abit before he replies "Ok, why not".

The farmer:" You are a stock-broker".

Young guy:"That is correct, how could you guess it?"

The farmer:" It is not guessing, you came here without anyone asking you, then you wanted to get paid for answering me about something I already know, and I wouldn't even have asked the silly question.
Besides you have no clue about my business. So can you now be so kind to open the hood and give me my dog back?!!!!!!"

Asad,
yes, no need to be so hard on Qin. We are all humans. Coming from so many different places on this earth, we are not always communicating so well to each-other.
However, Qin have done good in his predictions so far (USD/NOK), most that have read this blog, know this.
So, even he can be abit harsh and have strong meanings, we are all different. If we want respect, then we should be the first ones to give respect as well.
And, as in the Bible, who is 100% perfect can throw the first stone....

Have a good day
