CADJPY Target of 85.10 from Friday's piece already hit

EURCAD road towards 1.4230 target remains intact after 1.3880s held.

Canadian Dollar Cheers Conservative Majority by AB

(read prior IMT on more background)

May 2, 2011 23:42 ET : Canadians rewarded the ruling Conservative party with a majority government in Federal elections Monday. Pollsters predicted the Conservatives would continue to rule with a minority as they have for the past five years but support for the centrist Liberal Party collapsed. The Canadian dollar rallied in response to the win by the right wing government, which has long championed foreign investment.

USD/CAD fell by 45 pips as the results rolled in. Some CAD crosses gained as much as 100 pips on the news. The Conservatives were vague on promises during the campaign and instead focused on their role as a strong economic steward during the recession. They promised to trim $11 billion in spending during the campaign but would not say how. They also promised to balance the budget by the end of their term in 2015.

The Canadian dollar could be volatile in the coming days as Prime Minister Harper offers further clarity on how he will govern the country. Its unlikely that the knee jerk CAD-positive reaction will be sustained.

Thx Rezz.. been looking at this trade to short @1.40.. now will need to look at the lower level I guess..

Seems like the conservatives will get majority which should be good for CAD strength, so it may play catchup/not weaken as much as AUD?. A play is short AUDCAD

not into picking the tops so waiting for 1.093 to break on 4h in aussie for 1.0880-60 first target..

sydney, i think we start paying after the trial period is up ..sometime this week go to the imt page and look to the right of the page under were it says about the jan 23 seminar..ok gl:)
