I shall ask again, ignore anything about gold and answer this:
What is the yield on short term treasuries?
What is inflation (CPI)?
What is the real value of inflation due to debasement of $ when the fed buys treasuries?

emmm, if you really want to buy metal, plantinum is the best choice, you can check it's chart, no real big bubble yet. or you can buy silver at 15, i guess that is real value.

"Gold is the final bubble. I have the majority of my money in short term US treasuries. I don't think you really can get any safer than that. I sold the last of my gold some time ago. "

Is that a joke?

You lose money just buy owning them.

why talk about selling gold here.. wrong forum for the starters.. selling euros might turn out to be more rewarding if persistent buying of short term US treasuries continues..

anyway why own gold if you can own a gold mine?.. no personal security issue here at all.. and the prices move better too.. the risk is still there as it can get mismanaged or nationalised:-)

It always alarms me when I see anyone boasting about owning gold or showing pics of the eagles or bars they just bought.

yeah I think you guys are predicting the bottom line scenario. Let's hope it doesn't come to that !

Once deflation really gets going gold is likely to fall in price.

The problem with owning gold is where to hide it. Its very risky if anyone but yourself knows you have it. Your personal security is severely compromised and that of your family.

The general advice from old timer gold buffs is to diversify your liquid savings with 15% to 20% into gold. There are risks attached to ANYTHING we choose to do if a global depression is on the radar screen.
