What a crazy day on mkts...Suez canal and Egypt finally spooked everyone. and brought my DJIA puts which I mentioned purchasing here a few days back into value. On CL what a crazy day. I was contemplating a long WTI-Short Brent trade to play the massive spread there but bailed out...woe...would have made me a tonne and half today.

Boli, answer to your question is i expect gold move lower on that scenario because of the China play.

Only in the event where China does NOT raise rates (unlikely) that commodities will continue to push higher due to safehaven from Egypt.

At end of day, it would be difficult, to see stocks falling more than 5% without oil pulling back.

Also think about the repercussions to world economy. China and EM already raising ratesm which is hurting their stock markets. Dont you think that if energy prices extend higher that would become more inflationary, which would make FOMC/ECB/BoE more hawkish..and hence, hurt equities further?

Thats why i bought SDS on Wednesday. ETF that is ultra short the SP500
