Lucky,

I suspect oil will be around 70 by tomorrow.

- US jobs data coming today is important
- New offshore drilling has been put on hold (IEA said if this is permanent, this will shoot up oil prices)
- EIGHT Wall St banks are being investigated by SEC for possible criminal charges related to their CDS' ratings by S&P, Fitch etc)

What do you think?

P.S. Catnip, BEFORE you write another word...please answer my question below. I'm waiting...and I'm anxious!

Oh Catnip,

Since you're SO smart w/ theory (& I'm sure 'practice' ;) ), explain where rats go when they leave a sinking ship (in the middle of the Atlantic). Mind you, the water temp's like 1*C & the nearest shore is only about seven hours away!

Now, the ship will sink ANYWAY...so do they take a lifeboat or dinghy? Seriously, I'm perplexed - hell...I've even lost interest in oil momentarily.

S/ONE GET THIS RESOLVED FOR ME!!

Catnip,

You've done the prisoner's dilemma thingy at univ, right? It's cool, isn't it? ;)

Hmm...so if they WANT you to go long, and you KNOW that you have to go short...and if they KNOW that you'll be going short, then wouldn't you WANT to go long?

Basically then, if they WANT you to go long, then you SHOULD go long. They'll get us either way! Hmm. Do I make sense here?

Chartvuze,

Just out of interest, when rats leave a sinking ship, where do they head (say, if the ship is in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean)? I mean, can they swim? No, seriously...

Gunjack/Lucky,

The Cartel is was consolidating its oil positions until the crash-bang of May 6 happened! And then a few bearish sessions followed. We all read hoe they've made huuuuuuuuuuge profits this Qr. They've started consolidating again (at least one biggie I know of).

If my source is correct, this would be the last time we'll be seeing early-70s for a long time. Lucky, I'm following EXACTLY your strategy. I've made my money in the months before - now I'll be buying all the way down to 70 (if it goes there i.e.), taking little positions...and consolidating for that 85-90 mark...

Chloe,

Depends on what your leverage & margin is. If you're trading thin on gold, it's worth hanging in here. If you're heavy...well, gold is no one's b*tch at the moment. LIke we can explain the reason for it to go from 1180 - 1220 on Mon/Tue. But what's the reason for it to go to 1240 early morning?

I'm no expert on gold...but it's dangerous territory now. I'd make my moolah & head for the exit. Having written this, there's MORE chance of gold trading lower from here than going further.

But again, it depends on your leverage really...

Guys,

Fresh rumors of a rate hike by PBoC could weigh on crude. This adds to the negative news! Will it trade lower of will they take us for a ride again,

Personally, I'm consolidating here & any drop in oil would be a buying opportunity for me...

Lucky,

I thought you wrote a couple of days ago you were long at 75.25? Anyway, there is massive contango - $4 - taking place in crude...certainly because Cushings is gushing...and that oil tankers are rusting in the oceans. Storage has reached its limit, perhaps?

Interesting to see if this lowers in the coming days. If not, we're heading to 70...

Catnip,

Was that an assertion, a premiss, an observation, a question or a reassurance?
