Gold & Yen's Perfect Desert Storm

Yen strength still eclipsing USD rebounds during risk aversion. while gold's ascent is better gauged against currencies other than the US dollar.

Can anyone open Ashraf's link:

December 18, 2009 09:01 ET: Watch Ashraf's take on REUTERS TV covering the latest USD rebound and how far could it go against EUR and GBPhttp://bit.ly/ 8HJBk7

December 17, 2009 12:46 ET: Ashraf's Video Market Analysis on EURUSD, GBPUSD & overall take on GBP. Also looking at USDJPY, Gold & SP500.http://bit.ly/ 6OIyH

I can't open the link. I don't know why.

golds decline afirms that the metal is driven by dollar weakness rather than natural demand or safe haven appeal as the events of greece and dubai would have otherwise bid up demand.

this would conculude that gold is a speculative dollar carry driven metal and for the meantime conintues to be SELL rated.

Ron rosen in november concluded that gold bugs will be 'roasted' as the dollar resumes its bull trend.

Ashraf - With your opening of the door on USD/JPY could you see it going up to 94? At what point would the carry trade shift out of the USD? Do you see a danger of that? And would it move back into the JPY?
Many thanks,
John

EUR/CHF..........ouch. I would probably went in with bigger position, but silence and absence of the analyst (including Ashraf) pointing out on SNB intervention, stoped me from going all in. After a while I felt alone talking about EUR/CHF trade. I figured that SNB thinks (hopes) that pair would level itself out without them spending money. I heard interventions are EXPENSIVE. It would be interesting to know how much money it really takes to intervene in currency market ? Ashraf, anyone ?
