Calum-it is my belief sterling won't fall in earnest until there is a stabilization in the drop of the eur/gbp pair. A few short-term positives seemed to hit for sterling all at once. Until eur/gbp stabilizez and even catches a bid, tserling will be supported in the market.

Overlay short-term charts of eur/gbp and gbp/usd and you will see what I means. Sterling took a dive during the North American sessions on Friday and Tuesday. Both declines were accompanied by a rise in eur/gbp.

Since GBP/USD broke the 164 support, it seems to be heavily supported above 1.63. Does this seem like a temporary strength fueled by M&A or does it look like it will start to resume on the overall long-term downward trend once risk appetite comes through? I am assuming for intraday the 164 could serve as the psychological resistance?

@PippedOff: "The analyst wrote "Gbp to move higher because it is the only pair not trading in a range".

Hm....on a weekly chart, that's exactly what it IS trading in. Mind you, on that basis, it could go to about 1.69, so this still wouldn't be good news for dollar bulls.

Hi Ashraf,

Do you think it is a good idea to short cable at 1.6330? And are you still bearish on UK in the short/long term?

Thanks.

Just read some great analysis on Cable.

The analyst wrote "Gbp to move higher because it is the only pair not trading in a range".

LOL-great analysis-the definition ofa momentum player.
