they always set the expected economic data much lower so when they beat expectations the aussi rises why cant they get ther forcasting right or is it done on purpose?

Ilos, of course the RBA does NOT want the AUD to necessarily become stronger, indeed they sometimes sell A$ to keep the price low.

Why does the RBA want the AUD so strong? Surely it cannot all be about mining? House prices seem to be forming a bubble in Sydney how long before the Aussies go the way of the US/UK with a housing collapse?

@chloe-as of now, USDCAD has fought its way back over the 1.03 handle even without a pullback in gold, eur, aud, gbp. Well at least AUDNZD has stopped going up, at least for a few hours, lol.

What happened to "buy the rumor, sell news"?

@cool...a small position @1.0340...with more orders @1.0265--45---25-- but @1.0225 i;ll prob start to increase the size of blocks...my lower blocks never got filled i ,,i should have just steped up an bought @ 1.0270 were ashraf told me yesterday..lol..one thing i noticed is 1st week of the mth gold rallys only to falter on the other 3weeks ..thats the way its been jan feb an now mar..gl all

i don;t think canada will raise its rates ahead of the us...they will raise rates when the us gives them the ok...an canada doesn;t want the cad much stronger...only a matter of time b4 were in the $$$ oursalfs pl...gl all

BofC has a longstanding commitment to no interest rate increase before the end of the 2nd quarter. With the US on hold on interest rates, most likely for the remainder of 2010, even a 1/4 pt. increase by BofC in July may push $Cdn to parity.
