Imo it's a long way to hyperinflation right now we are approaching deflation and in deflation gold is not a hedge but it is liquid cash. It is commonly believed CBs are advised by treasuries to print nations out of debt. But there is another valid option theorized by Lips: an orderly coordinated default followed by
introduction of only one global currency. That means at first all national debts are written off at once and with that all personal savings. In such a scenario for sure all personal possess of physical gold will be confiscated. In fact the future is a Marx economy or a capitalist economy . Right now there is no capitalism it is mercantilism. Buy low sell high. Such is not possible in capitalism nor in Marxism.
becuase in both systems the arbitrage value, the difference of buy low sell high, is zero in terms of buying power.

Wasn't sure where to put this, but since some people think gold is the ultimate hedge, maybe here:

Okay okay guys...don't get excited!! :p

Gunjack, w/ you AGAIN! Argentina will win the cup, albeit their predicament IZZZ that they've got truly world class players - Messi, Milito, Higuain, Tevez, Palermo, Mascherano (all classy world beaters - but HOW do you play them together?!

Don't crucify me for saying this, but I'd play Higuain & Milito upfront & Messi more in a Maradona-esque role (attacking midfield), w/ Tevez subbing for either striker.

Germans, well...NEVER count them out. The dark horseof the WC would undoubtedly be the US, so watch out for these folks too!

I sympathize with Spain. But I hold one bet for Brazil, as always.
Anyway, what about the stock market? Sick or what? Extreme volatility....
