no trading.. we are talking price of gold in US$ here!.. ok so you don't believe in US$.. then sell gold, buy treasuries, and hedge the currency..

Cat.. two dimensions are enough.. as long one of them produces a series.. btw time and price are enough dimensions for experinced leaf-readers to work with.. too bad if you dont believe existence of either:-)

anyway market price time series charts capture chaotic dynamical systems..

and FYI "..chaotic dynamical systems are sometimes associated with fractals. Objects in the phase space of a dynamical system can be fractals (see attractor). Objects in the parameter space for a family of systems may be fractal as well. An interesting example is the Mandelbrot set. This set contains whole discs, so it has a Hausdorff dimension equal to its topological dimension of 2but what is truly surprising is that the boundary of the Mandelbrot set also has a Hausdorff dimension of 2 (while the topological dimension of 1), a result proved by Mitsuhiro Shishikura in 1991.."

....
Trading LONDON, UK

Is that a joke?
What is the yield on short term treasuries> What is inflation (CPI)? What is the real value of inflation due to debasement of $ when the fed buys treasuries?
You lose money just buy owning them.
....

no trading.. it's not a joke.. but first here are the answers..

2.073%
3.6% but forecast is 2%
as for debasement of the dollar.. gold produces no cash flow and therefore has no intrinsic value.. US$ treasuries have..

now.. treasuries have always been much better investment/trading option then gold.. even recently..

simply sell gold/buy treasuries anytime.. but particularly when japanese 80s style deflation grips the world..

why talk about selling gold here.. wrong forum for the starters.. selling euros might turn out to be more rewarding if persistent buying of short term US treasuries continues..

anyway why own gold if you can own a gold mine?.. no personal security issue here at all.. and the prices move better too.. the risk is still there as it can get mismanaged or nationalised:-)
