cat.. if ur modelling eur/usd.. u might be better of using the theory of irrational numbers for your trading model:-)

btw v(d) = f(v(d)) is called recursive self-similarity.. not fractal.. and you might be making Leibniz mistake here thinking that only the straight line was self-similar in this sense :-)

perhaps (re-)read "How Long Is the Coast of Britain? Statistical Self-Similarity and Fractional Dimension" by Mandelbrot.. so you can begin to comprehend fractal nature of a leaf or chart patterns like the ones discuss here..

thank u comrade Cat for sharing with us tealeaf readers ur ignorance of patterns and modern monetary relationships..

"Prices are thus high or low not because more or less money is in circulation, but there is more or less money in circulation because prices are high or low. This is one of the principal economic laws." (Marx)

perhaps u might need to update your mathematical trading model by couple of centuries:-)

so u say patterns are a system response to a signal, eh? have you heard of fractals?

modern view of finance system as being chaotic/nonlinear (Kydland and Prescott) can produce reasonable statements about real economy's ability and willingness to substitute standard (S) with credit (C)..

in other words.. v(d)=f(C)

it got lively here lately.. and without me stirring things up:-)

Qingyu.. simply most retail traders think a like.. particularly spread betting brits:-).. and they get caught wrong footed most of the time.. just have a look at trading in cable.. big boys as you call them look for liquidity and they often create conditions for that to occur.. asian trading is particularly known for that.. and many seasoned traders avoid it for that very reason..

im not ew expert but this sequence looks about right to me..

first major move was down from the top 1371 to 1258.. followed by major rally to 1356 and the current major decline:

1. down to 1296
2. up to 1347
3. down to 1102
4. up to 1208
5. down for a retest of 1100 at least and possibly 1010 this coming week..

expect bounce from there to 1200-1250 level.. followed by a biggie to 850..

chandra.. good silver call from that important support area.. silver is now catching up to gold.. and looking good for 45 at least.. even though still below that recent swing high Dave is watching:-)

Ashraf will be pronounced god at least by his indian subcontinent clients if his silver target gets hit this month.. ill just settle for a title of 2nd guru to chandra if 45 gets hit:-)

long side looks done.. particularly if DT and H&S get validated by the lower trend line break..

looks promising if short of my target by 3.. perhaps one more little push higher for DT or engulfing..

yes Dave.. scalping is good place to be.. far better approach to that of Chavez:-) probably another sign of the top approaching.. just need it to make Baron's front page next week and we ready for a sizable correction..
