surf fishin..be back
Are you a former employee in a bank in Frankfurt? I guess you were laid off and that is why you are bashing the EU now. Why do you still live in Frankfurt? Move to Los Angeles and follow the american dream. LOL
ECU european currency unit was not a cash currency but the forerunner of Euro. Every national currency was related to ECU by inflexible peg bands. Guess what happened...
speculation vs Greek drachma...Italian lira... Spanish peseta...Portuguese peso.... Germany paid... now the bailout was calculable ahead because of the bands ... as the target became French franc Germany was close bankrupt and the band was widened french franc devaluated.
Within a few years the ECU lost 30% value versus D Mark but franc peseta peso lira drachma
did not lose value vs ECU...
what was the reason?
The same as today no common mistery of economy no common treasury. Every country was cooking their own national dish with as many cooks ( politicians) and more than many helpers and lazy executors ( govt officials) instead of accomplishing ONE economy .
what is the difference?
the bailouts in ECU regime were calculable and could be adjusted
the bailouts in EUR are not computable ahead and cannot be adjusted
