Here we go...
Germanys financial regulator, Bafin, asked the SEC for details on the suit, a spokesman for Chancellor Angela Merkel said.

Politicians that were forced to bail out their banks during the financial crisis are turning on Goldman, which critics say helped caused the turmoil and profited from it. The European Union is also probing Goldmans role in arranging swaps for Greece that may have masked the countrys budget deficit.

Can IQ be negative a black hole that does not only not emit information but sucks up all IQɬ thus that eventually total IQ is 0 ?
YES! YES IT CAN!
Bafin is a bunch of overpaid govt officials who are ok they work all night and they sleep all day....
Eustat is as big as Bafin but has EU officials who are paid 3 times that of the Bafin thinkers...
spell the word "work" please ... huh? never heard that word.

This is going to outdo the best sketches of Monty Pythons.

Wait wait.... the idea of the genius of monetary policy, Chancellor Merkel is Germany quits Maastricht
treaty ( that is permitted ) and announces Euro II solid_as_a_rock. This is because France is in the crosshairs .... but none of this will happen tomorrow if the meeting is not postponed at all due to the
volcano ashes and restriction of air traffic. So wait I think short gets a bit cheaper before it explodes.

I wish I could add to my EUR/USD shorts right this minute, but alas, I must wait another 4.5 hours. I cannot wait!

Perhaps this volcano eruption could prevent the meeting of a bunch of idiots taking place in Athens?
This were indeed something good. Chancellor Merkel's remake of Blitzsieg.... ashes to ashes dust to dust ... I hope the volcanic ashes could revoke cold reason and cease bubble talk.

Mont,

The Icelandic eruptions are not a Black Swan event (which has to be prospectively unpredictable & retrospectively predictable) because none saw it coming. Besides, if we discount potential air travel losses x number of countries, then (in all fairness), we also have to count the offsetting windfall revenues to the countries' coach/rail/ferry & hotel industries! Isn't it?

Eurorail announced that they had NEVER seen so many passengers go on their trains (& they're fully booked until Monday! A friend in Moscow told me this morning that a European delegation to Moscow had to extend their stay (in a hotel) by three days because they can't fly back to Europe. & hey, some tourism will follow as well...so another industry is a beneficiary.

I'd love to hear if the economy was a net winner or a net loser - it would be a close call. Remember...your loss is my win, & vice versa... ;)

It occurred to me the other day that the Icelandic volcano eruption, with its effect on air traffic over the UK and mainland Europe was something of a black swan event - out of the blue, little or no warning, with a potentially major economic effect. Maybe not as great an effect as some other events, but not to be ignored. It is supposed to be costing the UK economy 100 million per day Multiply that by the number of countries involved. And I think this could be an underestimate.

Then we have the GS fraud charge, with its immediate effect on the markets, and a more subtle effect on the reputation of the banking sector in general.

I wonder if we will look back on this time in the months and years to come as another turning point?
