"Dave, the peculiar thing here, is that the more USDCHF will rally towards 0.98 and 0.99 (nears my 0.9850 and parity targets) the more likely some disgruntled people will persecute me over those 3 pips.

Ashraf "

Ashraf, I was overly critical and particularly not knowing whether you and forum use hard stops at all. I spose I should have been happier to see you stop out at your perceived logical level, yes by only 3 pips, and then select a re-entry. Never mind, last thing I want to do is provoke any ill feeling and my post was not well written. A question might have been more appropriate.

Dave.

I tend to play 3 units on most my trades. First two are taken off at logical targets and third unit is run. When I think momentum is waning and the move starting to exhaust I trail a stop to let market take me out. Longer term position plays I employ same principle on daily timeframe.

pair trading, yes there is maybe room for trailing stops (but not for both positions) under certain conditions... etc but as a principle and generic strategy it is flawed and a bit of a mockery of trading as a skill. I think we should agree to partially agree and partially disagree!!!

Fair point for straight trades... altho if your are pair trading vs.straight trades, scenarios change..
maybe your are familiar with market neutral/pair trading?

"pointless and nonsense' ...disagree..

Trailing stops are pointless and nonsense. If you go in to a trade based on sound analysis then should never comeout at an arbitary unreferenced stop. This is not good trading and over time not profitable.

Ignore, trust the mental stops you referenced are not those that happen after too much rum time.

Ashraf: no experienced trader would persecute... And don't even mention 'mental stops' cuz that
would send them some over the top!
