Multi-FX Gold View & Shanghai Reminder

Looking at Gold in various currencies continues to help clarify FX secular strength, while it is time to revisit the Shanghai Composite's monthly chart.

Ashraf - do you still see JPY as a safe haven currency in case of markets crack-up? Or does the USD seem best best both for this eventuality and, as you've previously suggested, as a short-term hold? In case of latter would precious metals then be your following option in face of projected subsequent USD decline?

Many thanks,

John

rim, careful, the inverse gold/USD relation does NOT always work. staying long gold (even if i expect a brief retreat towards 970s). euro still seen goingown but support rising to 1.44.

Dan, been calling for 3.10% low in10 yr yield. now that we reached it, looks like it will rally from here. Impact on USD not so clear as the yield/USD relationshp is quite volatile. still see +4.5% yields.

Ashraf, do you have a y/e target for 10y Treasury yield? Seems as the dollar loses value, much of the difference comes back into Treasuries, or at least that has been the case over the last couple of weeks or so. Thx.

Taha, i have been saying USDJPY going to mid 80 for 5 months now. Why would you want to expect me to say 101 now. Bernanke's words are a way to STABILIZE the dollar decline.

New pip, i see 1.55 before 1.64

Hi Ashraf,

Just so I have understood what you mentioned reference Cable :- do you anticipate cable to go to the 1.6300 range, before it goes down to lower range of 1.5000

Thanks for your invaluable input.
