If sovereign bonds are defaulted upon in a big way governments will borrow (steal) our savings and make gold transactions illegal. You can be sure there will be no winners.

i think you get that wrong... gold is NOT a safe heaven... this phrase is used in conjunction with inflation . Gold rises because it is liquid cash while currencies are soon illiquide . Money disappears into a black debt hole . No more cash. But when stocks and commodities crash it is just not inflation it is deflation. Why are treasuries bought ? Because there is a good chance to get cash from selling these assets later.

gold been acting purely safe haven since 21st July when its correlation inverted (and before that on occasions). Normally it is pretty closely correlated with stocks (spx), crude, cad/usd (not usdcad). Gold has far greater safe haven qualities than silver in times of great stress and this is why I have not bothered to featrure silver other than to highlight its tracking sideways.

sorry Dave no insinuation that you plagiarised AL calls meant.. I was just teasing you.. the only thing i took out of AL's post was a number.. and yes he has not mentioned gold in it at all but only oil and CAD..

anyway I'll take your advise and tone down my posts.. particularly the scalping ones..
