Ashraf,

This is SO you...and the comparison was SO you as well! Did you say compare players like currencies?! *heheh* So the new cable is Ron/Mes. ;)

Okay, no more footie talk...BUT your final verdict: whom would you choose, of the two, to play for your life?

Asad

P.S. Drogba, well, I'd think, is as much a match winner as Villa or even Torres (But not certainly in the same class as Ron & Messi)!

raulin, keeping personalities aside, both RONALDO and MESSI are winners, incredibly and EFFECTIVELY skillful (ie they win games w/ their pretty play and not just show off with it) and both work VERY HARD at where they are. Drogba is also in that category (though he may not be that flashy but is damn well effective at winning games).

As in the markets, you have to compare currrencies and players in other media. i.e. compare Messi & Ronaldo on the National Team plain and ask what do they do? This shows that Barca plays MORE AROUND messi than Real does around Ronaldo. Argentina needs to figure out how to play around Messi (Maradone may not be able to figure that out as Barca managed to do).

Recognizing that Ronaldo has yet to aclimatize himself in Real 100% as Messi has in Barca, i say Messi has the edge over Ronaldo judging from the last 12 months.

P.S. Messi is also learning to take freekicks almost as perfectly as Ronaldo.
Ronaldo has yet to be a game-changer for Portugal.

Please do not ask me any more questions on football otherwise I will forget the markets and i can go on for hours. Dont get me started.

Haha Asad! that's exactly how we subdivided the comparison we agreed speed (off the ball) and power and shot Ronaldo ...dribbling Messi teamwork hmmm not sure but I think Ronaldo dissappears in really big games in cricket nice choices but if Sachin is the prince, Viv is the king!

Raulin,

Oooooooooooh...now you're touching a VERY sensitive issue, brother! :p It's like comparing Sachin (consistent...but not match-winning) to Lara (inconsistent...but wins matches when needed). Both ultra geniuses!

First, let's list down variables for comparison (Mes vs. Ron), say...

- Speed

- Power

- Dribbling

- Accuracy

- Teamwork (creating chances) - This one's easy: Ronaldo the Selfish

- Scoring ability

NOW we can have a proper vote! :D

P.S. Tell your kids there's another besides you who supports Messi... ;)

Ashraf On a different note . What do you think of Cristiano Ronaldo as a player ?I am a big Messi fan and think he is a more decisive player but have tough arguments with my sons (Real Madrid fans). Messi vs Cristiano ...cast your vote

heaofthecurve, that is a very plausible and a great point. Note how USD continues during falling stocks but remains mainly neutral during stock gains. What you say makes sense so keep that in mind.

Sarju, thanks for that. i dont know of any university. Banks offer training for their staff. Working knowledge of International Economics, (interest rate parity, covered int rate arbitrage Intl Trade) works. Theres a book on FX by TJ Marta on bloomberg press.

lyon, the reason i stated such a deep retarcement is based on my expectaion of lower stocks which will help yen, but we may go ONLY to 91.30-40s before rebounding .we shall see.

Hi Ashraf,
In yr article you mentioned:
"93 yen is likely to pave the way for 95 but not without interim retreat to as low as 90.20s as the yen regains some short-lived lustre from an upcoming market pullback of no more than 7%...."

Does the 7% market pullback that you've mentioned refers to the stock market or the USDJPY in general?

Thx!

I have been listening to your interviews on bloomberg and CNBC for last a couple of years and I have been following you on twitter. You have made numerous calls at difficult times and ,most of them proved right. The things you impressed me is your ability to compare and contrast and to analyze the relationship between currency, oil, gold , stock and 10 yields between different countries. CNBC, bloomberg, Financial Time, Wall Street hardly devotes enough time for in-depth
currency market analysis.

I am in medical profession and sometimes i wonder whether i should make a career change. Is there any degree or course offered by educational institution to become currency analysts. I have read numerous books and i have no intention to join short courses.

By the way, i have voted for you. I believe you have already proved yourself one of the best currency analyst and i suppose you do not need anyone to tell you that.
