Correction: DSK was an apparatchik. He turned into a more literal dipstick now.

Despite my lack of liking him, I wonder why sexual charges are so big of a deal in recent years. Clinton, Berlusconi, Srkzy (we are everywhere, LOL), Assange, now Strauss-Kahn... All laughable cases and should not be even considered in politics. Why does sex bother people so much?

DSK is an apparatchik. It doesn't matter whether he leads the IMF or not, what's important is whether his successor is better or worse at the job than him. And personnel issues within the IMF are not country/region specific, they're as much relevant to the USD as to the EUR.

Although I don't know Ashraf's view on the FOMC, I agree with you Catnip, that it's important news: Fed is no longer talking about expanding QE but about contracting it. Although I don't see the 'need' to sell assets, how did you derive that?

retreat of Strauss Kahn not favorable for Euro. Merkel now without ally.
Cotrary AL's view FOMC was important. No QE3 in the pipe.
Perhaps a fat crash - long overdue - of stocks and commodities will change FED's direction towards QE3. But it's unlikely. FED wants to sell assets and needs flight to safety.
