New Pip:

You should back test any trading system, i.e you apply the system backwards in time and see what results the system would have produced had you been trading it.

New Pip:

I doubt you will gather much, if any, information on this forum that will help you trade profitably. If you are new to this game, what you need to do is develop a well defined system that gives you an edge and trade that system with consistency. You will also need good money management and tolerate large draw downs on your account at times. If your system has an edge you should profit over time. If your system has no edge you will drain your account. If you don't have a well defined system at all, you shouldn't trade in my opinion.

Just kind of checking in. Reading back a bit, it doesn't seem like much has changed in this forum.

I will continue to stay on the sidelines for now. Anyone honestly make money trading eur/usd over the past three months? To be honest, I am glad I have not traded as - overall - based on my trading methodologies - I would have lost money over the last 3 or 4 months had I traded.

For Thanksgiving many of us are off Thursday and Friday although the markets are open on Friday, as is the retail sector. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.

There are only 10 Federal holidays in the US. For 2 of the 10, most businesses do not close (i.e. Inauguration Day and Columbus Day).

"...economic graduates in recent years need to go back to school to learn the meaning of a loan..."

Oh sure, you should send them all back to university. Maybe to the University of East Anglia this time. I guess they would first have to dig their hybrids out of all that global warming.

"...I can also see the USA unwinding, particularly Texas..."

Why Texas in particular?

Ignore, my short got stopped at break even and I am sidelined now. In any event, agree with you and Ashraf on the probabilities that the the next big move is likely down. Still at somewhat of a cross roads here imo so I decided to wait to see more of what develops after getting stopped on last short.

Saw a Polar Bear this morning walking down 6th Ave in Midtown Manhattan. He asked me if I knew where he could find Al Gore...

I was reading this thread and saw some EWA commentary from DaveO and subway.

My favored count is as described in the alternative mentioned by DaveO. Right now, however, there are a number of strong alternatives for what could happen next.

One alternative is that the move down from November 5th could be the start of an impulse wave with a 1,2; 1,2 count so far (i.e with a wave 3 or 1 dividing). If this is the case the next major move would be a wave 3 down on multiple degrees.

Another alternative is that the move down from November 5th is a reactionary 3 within a more complex corrective pattern (a double or triple 3). In this alternative, next would be a flat, triangle, or another zigzag pattern.

Sort of a cross roads here... I opened a short position on a tight leash for the chance that surf's up soon for a monster wave 3 down.

Thanks, Ignore. Unfortunately, no vacation for me for awhile. Was actually down there in Ocho Rios not too long ago. Loved it.
