Its all incredible folly. Even now the Greeks are still not paying their taxes. Any initiative has to have the cooperation of the people. Government alone cannot force the people to cooperate and mend their ways.

But as it is now if eurobonds were somehow introduced, fiscal sovereignity of greece, portugal spain ireland at least were severely limited. That would mean those countries become as occupied by Fuehrer Merkel . That cannot work.

yes exactly but now at this late stage the idea of eurobond would amount to germany doing most of the heavy lifting to cover s.european extravagancies. Seems very high risk for germany. The answer surely has to be to expell several s.european countries and arrange a fiscal policy alignment for northern members. None of this has been covered by past treaties so I imagine anything would need ratifying ?

Problem is only a handful have an idea what eurobonds are . And of course eurobonds should have been an instrument from the beginning of euro on, as a common currency cannot function without common fiscal policy.
