I tend to blame the Greenspan and Brown era rather than Bernanke who inherited the underlying problems created by both our countries. Eurozone, our politicians tore each others eyes out for some years and now we are thankful we rejected the EMU. More than 50% of intelligentia in UK regret even having entered the union but difficult to imagine how we could have avoided that from a trading perspective. EU laws have badly undermined our uk laws which I find totally unacceptable.

And I started reading John Mauldin in about 04. I can't recommend him highly enough having experienced both perma bulls and perma bears for the big picture economic analysis. JM is extremely balanced, if anything an optimist ! 90% of his predictions have come good if one allows the difficulty of exact timing.

skipper, yes I did. The only surprise was how long it took for the mortgage sub prime debacle shit to hit the fan. I expected that in about 2003/04 but it went on till 2007. The stocks rally up to new highs made in late 07 for me was just a bear mkt correction and the only reason new high was seen was USD weakness. The 2000 highs werre end of bull mkt. Shan't mention eurozone probs, the concept was always doomed to fail, just a question of timing impossible to predict.
