I don't agree, catnip. There's too much interest in the Euro worldwide, already too much involvement of other central banks regarding diversification. There is no interest in letting the Euro fall forever.

The Dollar itself is just so overvalued because of its reserve currency status. It will weaken again like it did the past 90 years.

The Pound? Well I wouldn't touch it for years... ;) Same is true for the Yen.

I agree that the "construct" of the Euro is a bit clumsy but I've heard so many people talking about the end of the Euro all the years... Of course it's still a very young currency but the ECB is one of the best central banks out there.

EUR is doomed ( and USD GBP is not ) because EUR is not a currency it is a legal construct.
So far the self proclaimed currency experts from 16 Eu countries believe it is enough to show the money. No it isn't. They must show the cards, too. Large straight? No. Full house? No. Big blind? Yes.

A race to the bottom?

"If the ocean was whisky and I was a duck,
I'd swim to the bottom, and never come up..."

Just thought I'd lighten the tone of this currently doom-laden thread.
Well the pound sterling has been doomed for all of my life (I'm of the baby-boom (not doom) generation), but, mirabile dictu, it is still worth more than one and a half US dollars as we speak.

Meanwhile if you really want some doom and gloom-laden fun, go and look at the comments on almost any article in Zerohedge. When they're not polishing their physical gold, they're cleaning their guns or stocking up on food, water, and fuel for the emergency generators.

Oh yes, and I love the name "Zimbabwe Ben" someone there used for the more familiar "Helicopter Ben".

EUR is doomed as well as GBP and USD... The only question is which currency will take a deep dive first.
