BoJ expands asset purchase fund to Y40T from Y35T, keeps rate the same at 0.10%...expecting a side order of intervention involved here...

Saida, If you're talking about Japanese CPI, then it does NOT affect oil.

Oil prices are usually the independent variable and they affect other data and indicators rather than the other way around.

....other than the usual jawboning DaveO, not much it appears.

if a country is in repair and needs to import goods/energy for said repairs one would think a stronger domestic currency would be desired?...even though Japan is traditionally an export economy...

Do BOJ have any stated level of defence these days or did they quit the old rhetoric as innefective ?

Hey DaveO, 'reckon they will leave them the same.

stopped out of trade. Still bearish the yen however the break of support in the dxy is concerning...could see a good flush below the 80 handle.

there is rumours of rumours that there could be intervention, BoJ QE potential etc., so staying wary.. also, we're getting close to month end flows

raft of data due out before rate decision, starting at 1930 EST.

on balance, there seems more 'fors' than 'against' for a weaker yen.

If 8070 fails will be looking to long this pair again going into Fridays BoJ rate decision with stops just below the 80 handle. Expecting fireworks in this pair and the other yen crosses before this week is done.
