Can anyone share technical-analysis on the USDX? My charting-platform only has June-contract so not sufficient datapoints. Is 79/80 level still considered a strong support level using horizontal lines. On the upward trendline (limited datapoints), it seems broken, and seems like a failure to close above 82.

Ashraf, do you have any revised outlook in term of what levels you see USDX in coming months?

USD continues keeping low profile this week but it should change today and tomorrow as there is more US data scheduled. In my opinion all depends on how the market decide if the data will be positive. Positive US data should be USD positive, right? But it can be also perceived as a risk catalyst and the dollar will be dumped in exchange for riskier assets. It's not clear to me and Im looking forward to hear from Ashraf or simply wait and see :)

Q. do you still think we are on for eurusd 1.32? now the greeks seem to be stabilising the uncertainty is fast evaporating. how far do you think this retracement will go before you concede a full reversal?

Thats the NY Times story on China on FX revaluation
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/09/business/global/09yuan.html?bl

basically, if anything, China will do a small revaluation of about 2.0% (as in Jul 2005) which could be interpreted as positive for commodities. But commodity impact depends on whether PBOC will raise rates.

Guys,

Ashraf, being the humble that he is, didn't post this on all threads...so I'll volunteer.

And you guys thought Ashraf Laidi was good at inter-market analysis!

Well there was a pretty nice drop in gold for a while earlier today, although it has gone back up.
I think EUR/USD and Cable dropped for a bit also.

I'm not worried about Euro and Cable, but as for gold, well, to use a phrase that Catnip and Xaron would recognise: "Das weiss der Cuckoo" ("it's anybody's guess" basically :-) ).
