Quantitative Easing & Currency Strengthening

Central Banks (ex Fed) have little choice but to maintain QE to avoid excessive tightening of transmission mechanism from their rising currencies.

More, yes, i agree. we may see a pop towards 1.6660s but i doubt the close will be at these levels.

Hi Ashraf,

Do you think that shorting GBP at the current levels (i.e 1.6620-1.6650) is good on an intraday basis?

Thinking it may be worth holding back on opening up a short on USD and JPY crosses as the asia may be UP. Hmmm... Possibly wait for morning on this one.

Rob, hw abt the fact that Dow ended 60 pts off its highs. we had our share of USD bounce (shortlived though). shorting GBPUSD remains key and shoreting USDJPY at 96.30s for 95.60s is also helpful

Hey everyone,

I was about to jump in after the Fed decision, but the market seemed to lack a definitive direction. Anyway, does anyone have thoughts on whether the +118 dow will cause increased risk appetite in the Asian session later? My guess is yes, although stocks are certainly off their highs, and it almost seems like the Yen is actually beginning to gain. Thanks

Rob, I agree with Steven. I see FOMC telling the world they haveyet to use up the remaining $50 billion and that would NOT be positive for stocks (equities may need more Quant Easing) hence possibly boosting JPY more than USD on risk aversion. I still see 1.1120 in USDCAD and betting on 1.6360 in GBPUSD
