Caspter, the CFA will definitely help augment your chances in the increasingly competitive job market...especially as MBA admissions are soaring. As far as CFA and FX, the two could go well together for areas related to international portfolio management and currency overlay.

Hello Ashraf,

Given the job/career challenges that the credit crunch has left us with, do you have any career advice for CFA students like myself who have read your book and aspire to be Global Currency Strategists(like you) someday?

Reddy,

Overall demand for commodities (copper/wheat), RBA policy making are overall risk appetite are the key factors impacting Aussie. My book has more extensive analysis on past empirical factors and future forces affecting the Aussie.

Hi Casper, no I'm not a CMT, but you do not have to be a CMT at all to draw charts that highlight the intermarket dynamics of these two. In fact, intermarket analysis is relatively new--especially amid the retail sector--but rest assured in a year from now there will be more books and seminars done on the subject. That's what Macro-oriented hedge funds do.

Ashraf, your graphs on Bond Yield Spreads are impressive. Are you a CMT?

Casper, that's a tough one.. predicting the currency 9 months from now. I'd say it EURUSD may reach $1.43-1.45.

Of all the chapters in your new book,I love chapter three(on the U.S. Dollar) the most. Currently 1 = $1.355. In your estimation what is this exchange rate likely to be like at the end of this year?
