C'mon, America: Embrace flopping

Face it: When it comes to our disdain for soccer flopping, we're either hypocrites, in total denial, or both.

America, let's stop the madness. Embrace what we pretend to despise. Join the rest of the soccer-loving world and come out of the flopping closet ... before taking a good, hard, utterly unjustified tumble to the turf. We have nothing to lose but our stubborn pride. And probably fewer World Cup matches.

Yup, back to the real world it was fun while it lasted and Spain was quite a classy outfit, where Holland had to resort to overly aggressive play.... Tks for the football updates Mr Ashraf... enjoyed that as well.

World Cup Final Perfect Microcosm of World of Finance

"And that is the problem with the world of finance. Every day is the World Cup final. Trillions of dollars. Creation and destruction of societies. The stakes are that high; so players will flop, fake and play dirty because at the end of the day, no one remembers or cares about second place. Like their referee counterparts, regulators find themselves in the impossible position of judging unbelievably talented people who are willing to do just about anything to win. Which is why when I see headlines like this weekends Bank of America Says $10.7 Billion of Trades Wrongly Classified, I really am not surprised anymore."

SPAIN WINS THE WORLD CUP in a 1-0 victory over Holland in extra time. Dutch players fulfilled their promise of using “unpretty” football to try to overcome the Spaniards, but the outcome was 7 yellow and 1 red card for the Dutch, whose dirty play was the only way to slowdown the tempo of Spain’s passing machine. A flash of genius from Schneijder offered Robben a golden pass but the Dutch winger inexplicably missed the chance of a lifetime, with the help of Casilla’s foot. Fabregas wasted the same type of opportunity but later redeemed himself with the most valuable assist of his international career, feeding Iniesta with the only goal of the match. English media desperately trying to elevate referee Howard Webb into star-status, but he once again made his share of mistakes --not awarding 2 penalties to Spain, overlooking a clear foul on Robben and mysteriously ruling a Schneijder shot as goal kick when it clearly should’ve been a corner-- This last action led to a CRESCENDO PF SPANISH PASSING that eventually found Iniesta’s winning goal. But it could’ve been much worse for Webb and the game had he not kept his cool and composure. Although the World Cup final was far from entertaining, it produced a greater share of thrilling moments than did the 2006 final in Berlin (passes, misses, shorts action and not penalties). Spain, the European champions, deservedly proved to the world why they were the favourites in this game. The INIESTA-XAVI PAIR has now been promoted from impeccable to unstoppable. Spain won only 1-0, but their unique ways of disintegrating defenses with their passing could’ve easily added 2 or 3 goals to the final score sheet. HATS OFF TO and hardluck to HOLLAND who loses its 3rd WCup final and Congrats to to Spain and its beautifully effective game. The Fabregas pass to Iniesta is a preview why Spain’s Ligua will undoubtedly the most difficult, spectacular and talented football league in the World (assuming Fabregas will go to Barca). Spain’s “Barca boys”, Ronaldo, Ramos, Mourinho, and Forlan may be the only way Spain’s league could save Spain’s deteriorating sovereign debt situation.

Gunjack,

I am from Bosnia (Sarajevo), and live in AZ for a while now, but I always have a great time in Spain, and some dear friends live there.
Yes, ESPN is showing every game, and I am watching the games wherever is the biggest crowd in town, usually English pub "George & Dragon". Always a good crowd.

SOOOOO thankful this didn't go to penalty kicks! Congratulations to the superior team, Spain played better overall, so many shots on goal. And the Dutch could've lost another player or two to red cards. Hope this helps the Spanish gain momentum in general.
