Falling Equities Still Key for Dollar

Intermarket analysis set-up still suggests that fresh equity selling remains the only source of support for the US currency.

Hi All, I am puzzled by the fall in EURUSd immediately after the result announcement of banks. I was expecting a weakness in USD and rise in EURUSD. On the contrary it fall and it fell substantially for long period (14:14 to 14:22 UK time)before rising again. Can anyone explain this?

Ashraf, back in early march Roubini's widely publicized negative views on the economy coincided with the market's bottom .Yesterday when I read the report on Roubini's positive take on the economy I took it as a signal possibly marking a top in the markets. But now that you have made me aware of his retraction of such views I don't what to make of his comments. I suppose I'll stick to what I've always been doing and that is to take my leads from the price action itself.

Morgan, despite the Roubini retraction http://www.rgemonitor.com/roubini-monitor/257299 i do beleive stocks may edge a little higher before starting to come down gradually. id still short USDJPY at high 93.90s or 9400s. restart shorts in AUDCAD and/or sell AUDJPY (see charts in latest article)

Dear Ashraf,

With the S&P H/S formation presently null and void, what currency pairs are interesting to you for this Friday?

Jay.

apache, Im reluctant to call this as gold's direction to 980. I see resistance at 950.

Ashraf,
what is your opinion on gold? Is it a retracement due to equity bullish or this is a next leg up to break the 970?

It looks like 900 is a strong support... thanks!
